Love is…

I suppose that today is the official love day
Or valentine’s day as it is called.
That we celebrate our love and being in love
And we give and expect to get
Material things that represent love
The cards, candy, plush animals, balloons, jewelry, flowers and so forth
Are all indicators of love or being in love some would proclaim
I guess I’m a little contrary to this dissolution.
That love is validated by “things” we give or receive.
Love for me is more than a teddy bear, flowers, candy or anything material.
Love for me is that willingness to sacrifice one self, compromise, genuine kindness,
tenderness, love is having another’s best interest at heart, being aware of another’s feelings, Love is listening attentively, sharing openly, caring empathetically, truly understanding and having heartfelt compassion for each other. Love is helping someone achieve their goals and dreams and encouraging them when they stumble. Love is in the little details, more than a feeling when you want something from someone or want someone to do something for you. Love is commitment, nurturing, loyalty, honesty, respect and selflessness. Love is something you know and don’t have to Google it, read about; it’s not just a Facebook post, or a tweet. Love is more than a feeling that comes like the wind that blows. Love is 365 days a year and should be celebrated daily.

I feel you on that one. Why you gotta wait til Feb 14 to show me affection? Do it all year around. Not by just material things. Show me your heart. Give me your heart.

A mom can love her child all year round even when its not Valentine’s! 😀 So love is 24//7, 365 days a year and its great that you have taken the time to reflect on that and write a post! I love seeing other posters who love to write. I’m new to blogging and can’t seem to figure out how to follow your posts! lol
