How’s your view?

Recently I had the pleasure of attending an event that my son was participating in. Like many other events I used my cell phone to capture the memories. While taking photos, I realized that some of the people in the group could not be seen in the photos. The group was extremely large, and included more people than the screen settings would allow.

I opened up the settings, examined my cell phone, and toiled with how to include everyone in the photos. As my son was coming over to assist me, a couple people that were also taking pictures of the group suggested that I use the panoramic view setting in my phone. Panoramic view is “an unobstructed and wide view of an extensive area in all directions. “ A panoramic view is further defined as “an extended pictorial representation or a cyclorama of a landscape or other scene, often exhibited a part at a time and made to pass continuously before the spectators.”   Wow! What a revelation! Using panoramic view in your life can allow you to see things beyond the defined landscape. Regardless of the current circumstance, challenge, or situation you may be faced with there is something beyond the view. Through prayer and seeking the Lord, he will reveal the landscape of our lives beyond our limited view. He often presents us with snapshots, images, dreams, and visions of our destiny. Once, we begin to fulfill our divine purpose the snapshots of our destiny will form together to create a panoramic view of our lives. Additionally, we must keep our view clear and without obstructions to see things. We cannot allow people or circumstances to allow our view to become limited and blocked. Finally, once your view/vision is panoramic and clear there will be” a part at a time and made to pass continuously before the spectators.” Wow! Another Revelation! God will allow your haters, those hell raisers, the hypocrites, and those that harshly judged, used and lied on you to be your spectators when he lifts you to your purpose! There is more to come in your life! Change your view!

Trial to Triumph!

This past week one of the biggest highlights in the media has been the blunder made by renowned comedian and TV host Steve Harvey. So many jokes, phrases and unfortunately racial epithets have been attributed to the reason he announced Miss Colombia as Miss Universe and not the actual winner Miss Philippines. His mistake went viral causing a firestorm over the majority of social media outlets. So many memes were made, jokes said and negative comments about Steve Harvey’s mistake.

In the midst of this mistake, Steve Harvey remained humble, apologizing profusely for his mistake. Mr. Harvey even said out of his own mouth that he accepted “full responsibility” for his mistake. I think that this mistake not only highlights something most people forget is that Steve Harvey is very human and capable of making mistakes. Not only that, it also showed his humility and genuine remorse. Many people began to question his ability to be a great host, his lack of a college education, and his self-proclaimed being from the hood as reasons why he made the mistake while only a few attributed it to human error. I watch Steve Harvey TV show very often, listen to his radio show and watch him host family feud. Therefore, I am very aware of Steve’s love of Christ and the way he acknowledges the reason he is so successful. God! The way he praises, God! God is indeed good and takes care of his people. Within the past twenty four hours it has been announced that Steve Harvey has been selected to host the Miss Universe pageant again for the next few years. Wow! God is so amazing! Despite all the controversy, naysayers, negative comments, jokes, memes and racial epithets, he was still chosen.
This is very profound! When God chooses you, there is NOTHING anyone or anything can do to stop it!
There will always be naysayers, negative comments, jokes, memes, and even those that question your ability, talent, and so forth, but God will cause you be triumphant in the midst of your trial!

She died before she lived…

As we embark on a New year and renewal of ourselves, ! I thought this would be great to reblog!

She died before she lived..

Wow So Intense, I ‘m stumped and downright mystified

By how you didn’t live before you died,

but you died to live and generously give

so that you could have life

you gave them your all as employee, sister, friend, and wife.

To live freely with less strife, you left that life…

Wow it’s still a mystery

how you rewrote your history

And had to rearrange the life priority,

not to please the majority but to God be the glory.

So now you can share your write story.

How to live, give, and remain positive…in the midst of the storms and lessons of life

Without an umbrella for protection, the Good book for your direction

And no passport to escape the internal resurrection

That you endured. As the hooks of life lured

you away, for long you didn’t stay..

But returned, refreshed and soul renewed

Trapped In Misery!

Trapped In Misery!

She didn’t know how to escape and run

Her heart wouldn’t let her flee

Battered and bruised she became

Addicted to pain and misery

She nurtured and embraced her life as she knew it to be

Dying a slow death captivated by love’s fallacy

The imaginary tale, the one she wanted to believe

That love sometimes hurt; her soul she so deceived

Drifting into a fantasy, a world of make believe

Her bruises healed and left no scars, is what she chose to receive;

Her world conceived in physical turmoil, languished in injury

As days, months and time passed on she’s hoping for change

10 years in and things remained the same

Shattered beyond the external beatings she endured

Wounds split, by his violent countenance, her spirit hooked and lured

One day things would change her soul and mind she falsely reassured.

Hoping for strength to maintain her perception blurred and obscured

Believing that his internal wounds could be one day cured,

Nursing his faults, cradling his vicious allure

Praying that God will intervene and create a divine detour!

She believed that Love is real, change can happen, things can be made pure!

Don’t Trip

Help me Lord to hold my lip,

Let the gossip slip off my hip,

From the jealousy I shall not trip

But instead flip the script,

Being friendly to the enemy envy

Remove the negativity, lies, biased chatter from around me.

In the midst of this lions den,

Free me from this worldly sin

Strengthen me to never give in

Yet turn my cheek to the whisperin’

Please protect me from the evil grin

External smile of a “so called friend”

Let the negativity make me laugh

And provoke me not to wrath

Vengeance Lord I shall not seek.

Humble me father, make me meek

Thank you Lord for the critics I face.

You are my light, my savior, my saving grace!

What’s in your dash!!!

1945 –

What’s in your dash? What will your dash say about you? Does your dash have meaning? At some point in our lives we or someone we know will experience some type of loss. A Loss can be from a relationship, health, freedom, home, identity, job, and so forth. Losses can catch us off guard, unprepared, and change our lives forever. A loss can leave us broken, confused, distraught and angry. Perhaps the most beneficial outcome of a loss would be to use it as a tool for self-reflection, motivation, and inspiration.

I have endured a few losses in my life. Recently, I had the unfortunate task of dealing with loss; the death of one of my cousins. Like so many people, when I received the news of his untimely death I was shocked, saddened, and overwhelmed. For several days, I rode this emotional roller coaster and was even more pensive on the morning of his funeral so much that I dreaded preparing and getting dressed for it. I hoped and wished this day never came and would be over soon. While riding in the car, I remembered our last conversation and began to ponder about it. Unknowingly, I smiled when I reminisced about his humorous spirit, warm smile, and zest for life. A sense of peace, pride and joy came over me when I saw the vast number of people that came out to pay their respects on such a beautiful sunny summer day. During his funeral service, I was overwhelmed and comforted by every speaker that reflected on my cousin’s genuine kindness, helpfulness, and acts of service. It was during these reflections and speeches, that I was reminded of how great my cousin’s dash was and what a profound legacy he left.

Since his passing and funeral, I have been more reflective on my own life. With every action, task, act of service, interaction with others, etc. we are building our dash. Our dash holds memories of our actions, our being and how we lived our lives. Our dash will be the mirror that’s reflected upon to comfort, encourage, inspire and keep our memories alive. It goes without saying that I will greatly miss my cousin, aunt, grandfather and other relatives and friends that have passed away. However, I am consoled and can find peace with the great memories of their lives. In the midst of pain and sadness, I am inspired, encouraged and comforted by their dash! Therefore, daily I choose to cultivate, nourish, strengthen, live, expand, develop, extend and make my dash (life) count!

I’m Covered!

The wolf pack trying to eat me alive
I’m a kingdom kid born to thrive
The Lord will destroy any evil plan you contrive
He’ll reverse that destructive bus you drive
Trying to set me up and throw me under
I am not trying to steal your perceived thunder,
I see my future, this ain’t my life dream
I aspire to achieve greater things
You can have this playing corporate schemes.
The crab in the barrel is your home team
I refuse to stoop to your level and give in.
The Lord is my Shepard and this fight I’ll win!
