Trial to Triumph!

This past week one of the biggest highlights in the media has been the blunder made by renowned comedian and TV host Steve Harvey. So many jokes, phrases and unfortunately racial epithets have been attributed to the reason he announced Miss Colombia as Miss Universe and not the actual winner Miss Philippines. His mistake went viral causing a firestorm over the majority of social media outlets. So many memes were made, jokes said and negative comments about Steve Harvey’s mistake.

In the midst of this mistake, Steve Harvey remained humble, apologizing profusely for his mistake. Mr. Harvey even said out of his own mouth that he accepted “full responsibility” for his mistake. I think that this mistake not only highlights something most people forget is that Steve Harvey is very human and capable of making mistakes. Not only that, it also showed his humility and genuine remorse. Many people began to question his ability to be a great host, his lack of a college education, and his self-proclaimed being from the hood as reasons why he made the mistake while only a few attributed it to human error. I watch Steve Harvey TV show very often, listen to his radio show and watch him host family feud. Therefore, I am very aware of Steve’s love of Christ and the way he acknowledges the reason he is so successful. God! The way he praises, God! God is indeed good and takes care of his people. Within the past twenty four hours it has been announced that Steve Harvey has been selected to host the Miss Universe pageant again for the next few years. Wow! God is so amazing! Despite all the controversy, naysayers, negative comments, jokes, memes and racial epithets, he was still chosen.
This is very profound! When God chooses you, there is NOTHING anyone or anything can do to stop it!
There will always be naysayers, negative comments, jokes, memes, and even those that question your ability, talent, and so forth, but God will cause you be triumphant in the midst of your trial!

Spring Cleaning!

Spring Cleaning!

Spring has sprung upon us! This is the season that is often referred to as “Spring Cleaning.” Spring Cleaning usually involves sprucing up one’s home, office, car, closet, and so forth. Spring cleaning encompasses getting rid of old, unused things, excess, reducing, and stopping all together.
During this season, spring is very much symbolic of cleansing, renewing, and disposing. Spring Cleaning sometimes takes a lot of effort. So many times it’s difficult to get rid of that pair of shoes in your favorite color that you haven’t worn in over a year, or those blue jeans that used to fit just right, or that sports coat that commands attention from the ladies when you wear it. Or maybe it was a designer purse that you had to have and no longer carry, or outdated electronics, or could it be unused sporting equipment, clothes your children have outgrown, your great grandmother dishes, figurines, Knick knacks, tools; the list goes on and on.
During this season as flowers begin to bloom and we begin to purge of old and unused material things; this could be a great opportunity to rid ourselves of internal junk, clutter, and baggage as well. Internal Cleansing or Cleaning can be the most difficult by far. This would mean for individuals to truly examine themselves, their motivations, thoughts, actions and behaviors. Internal cleaning would require much more of an effort. One would have to be aware, invested, genuine, and sincere for internal cleansing or to take place and be effective. Everyone should do an internal spot check every now and then, whether a person is 5 or 95, internal cleansing can be Soul Healing. I personally, do an internal check quite frequently and have been for several years now. I think consciously speaking it would be difficult not to be aware of any internal junk, clutter, baggage that has crept in. Often times, through prayer, meditation and divine revelation it will made clear and be very apparent of anything that required spring cleaning, internal cleansing or Soul Healing! I invite and encourage you to join me in doing a frequent spot check and rid yourself of internal clutter for Soul Healing!

Trapped In Misery!

Trapped In Misery!

She didn’t know how to escape and run

Her heart wouldn’t let her flee

Battered and bruised she became

Addicted to pain and misery

She nurtured and embraced her life as she knew it to be

Dying a slow death captivated by love’s fallacy

The imaginary tale, the one she wanted to believe

That love sometimes hurt; her soul she so deceived

Drifting into a fantasy, a world of make believe

Her bruises healed and left no scars, is what she chose to receive;

Her world conceived in physical turmoil, languished in injury

As days, months and time passed on she’s hoping for change

10 years in and things remained the same

Shattered beyond the external beatings she endured

Wounds split, by his violent countenance, her spirit hooked and lured

One day things would change her soul and mind she falsely reassured.

Hoping for strength to maintain her perception blurred and obscured

Believing that his internal wounds could be one day cured,

Nursing his faults, cradling his vicious allure

Praying that God will intervene and create a divine detour!

She believed that Love is real, change can happen, things can be made pure!

Shadowless Reflection..

Shadowless Reflection

The rumbling blue sea, a massive being
Raging waves absorbing the sunlight,
Swallowing all of its own shiny reflection
Never casting a shadow!

Burning Bridges !

Burning Bridges

Fiery paths set ablaze

Tension filled embers engulfed brightly glazed

Unforgiveness, anger, jealousy and rage,

Pride and egos take center stage

Scandalous behavior sizzles while it’s covered and hot!

Planning and prepping one mischievous plot

Backstabbing, back tracking, fence straddling not to get caught

Exposed it reveals scorched and blistered dry rot

Withered and destroyed, hearts and minds are distraught

Tempers flared, word war declared foul language slingshots

Slung and thrown, the bridge is now burned a real life lesson taught.

Pay Attention and learn which bridges to keep, which to burn….

divine revelation will help you discern!

I’m Covered!

The wolf pack trying to eat me alive
I’m a kingdom kid born to thrive
The Lord will destroy any evil plan you contrive
He’ll reverse that destructive bus you drive
Trying to set me up and throw me under
I am not trying to steal your perceived thunder,
I see my future, this ain’t my life dream
I aspire to achieve greater things
You can have this playing corporate schemes.
The crab in the barrel is your home team
I refuse to stoop to your level and give in.
The Lord is my Shepard and this fight I’ll win!
