Trial to Triumph!

This past week one of the biggest highlights in the media has been the blunder made by renowned comedian and TV host Steve Harvey. So many jokes, phrases and unfortunately racial epithets have been attributed to the reason he announced Miss Colombia as Miss Universe and not the actual winner Miss Philippines. His mistake went viral causing a firestorm over the majority of social media outlets. So many memes were made, jokes said and negative comments about Steve Harvey’s mistake.

In the midst of this mistake, Steve Harvey remained humble, apologizing profusely for his mistake. Mr. Harvey even said out of his own mouth that he accepted “full responsibility” for his mistake. I think that this mistake not only highlights something most people forget is that Steve Harvey is very human and capable of making mistakes. Not only that, it also showed his humility and genuine remorse. Many people began to question his ability to be a great host, his lack of a college education, and his self-proclaimed being from the hood as reasons why he made the mistake while only a few attributed it to human error. I watch Steve Harvey TV show very often, listen to his radio show and watch him host family feud. Therefore, I am very aware of Steve’s love of Christ and the way he acknowledges the reason he is so successful. God! The way he praises, God! God is indeed good and takes care of his people. Within the past twenty four hours it has been announced that Steve Harvey has been selected to host the Miss Universe pageant again for the next few years. Wow! God is so amazing! Despite all the controversy, naysayers, negative comments, jokes, memes and racial epithets, he was still chosen.
This is very profound! When God chooses you, there is NOTHING anyone or anything can do to stop it!
There will always be naysayers, negative comments, jokes, memes, and even those that question your ability, talent, and so forth, but God will cause you be triumphant in the midst of your trial!

My Canvas

My Canvas

My very own canvas, a blank slate
A precious gift from the most high God to create
shape, mold, love, paint, and cultivate.
Designed by matrimonial affection,
He came wrapped in perfection.
Silky, smooth flawless complexion
Shielding him from harm, being his protection
From negative elements prayerfully interjecting,
Declaring calm to life’s storms
Guiding the winds to blow sweetly in his direction
Softly, gently sowing, pouring golden seeds of reflection
hope, courage, love, patience, kindness and peace into my masterpiece,
calming any blues, stroking him with joy filled hues
of neon nights watching the iridescent moonlight to wishing upon shiny stars while I tuck him in at night. Yellow sunshine filled days, watching him grow up and play. Blissfully drawing adventures to be remembered, countless pictures of see sawing, roller skating, bike riding, kite flying, birthdays, field trips so many trips, falls, scraps and slips and endeavors, creating cherished memories to last forever. My masterpiece still growing, learning and yearning to be older than he really is…

My loving son, my canvas still being creating, becoming more acquainted with life, so vivid, colorful, unique, my canvas will be a Great Man once he’s complete!

Visioning a Dream

A light, a tunnel, a stumbling block
no flashlight for directions but the school of hardknocks..
trial and error a strenous test
faith and determination to go beyond the rest.
Belief and perservance will get you through life’s challenges and let downs facing you.
Power, motivation, grace, a true desire to live your dream.
Never give up your reality is closer than it may seem.

Success

The path of success is a maze

Not seen through the gloomy haze

of twisted one side ways

in fact there is more than one track

or pathway to the map of the trail

overcoming the obstacles entails

the fighting courage to prevail

in the midst of this hell

planning to succeed and never to fail

appears bleak through the veil

keep on going and pushing break the barrier scale.

Have Faith and it’ll all turn out well.
